Logging On With Windows 95/98: Part 3
Problem:
It has probably happened at least once. You're
logging onto The Higher Technology the way you normally do and
you're hit with the error message that makes no sense:
The computer you're dialing is busy.
Cause:
This error message can be caused by any of the following situations:
- If
the connection you are dialing is a new connectoid (newly created
dial up networking connection) and you are in the 905 area code,
you could quite well be dialing 1-416 by default.
- The
server may just be busy, try an alternate telephone number.
Resolution:
To work around this problem, use the appropriate method:
- Check
the connectoid properties to ensure that Use country code
and area code is not selected by a checkmark beside
it. To do so, click on your start menu, goto programs, accessories
then Dial-up Networking. Once inside Dial up networking, with
your RIGHT mouse button click on your connectiod for
THT, goto properties, here you will see Use country code
and area code, unselect it and click okay. Redial again.
